SI Joint Injection

A Sscroiliac (SI) joint injection is a minimally invasive procedure utilized to diagnose or treat lower back pain or sciatica symptoms associated with inflammation of the sacroiliac joint.

  • A local anesthetic is used to numb the area near the sacroiliac joint on the patient’s back
  • A needle is inserted into the skin and Fluoroscopy (Live X-Ray) is used to guide the needle into the joint
  • After the needle is confirmed to be in the proper place, numbing medication and/or anti-inflammatory medication is slowly injected into the joint
