Sinus Irrigation & Shaving
Sinus irrigation and shaving involves the removal of tissue, bone or membranes that are causing breathing problems – as well as flushing out the sinuses with a sterile solution that may also contain medications.
- local or general anesthesia may be used
- procedure involves insertion of an endoscope and/or other surgical instruments into the nose to reach the sinuses
- surgeon may remove tissue, cartilage, bone or other material that is obstructing the sinuses
- sinuses are also irrigated (flushed out) using a sterile solution that may also contain antibiotics or steroid medications
