Minimally invasive vein stripping is a surgical procedure to remove Varicose veins from the legs. The procedure may be used for cosmetic purposes or to relieve pain, skin sores, blood clots or bleeding from the vein.
- General or spinal anesthesia may be used
- Surgeon makes several small incisions near the top and bottom of the vein
- A thin, plastic wire is threaded through the vein
- The wire is tied to the end of the vein, then the entire vein is pulled out through the incision
